Running the 2018 TCS New York City Marathon and Discussing Democracy on the Lead Up to the Midterm Election Day

On this week’s episode of Just Love, Monsignor Kevin Sullivan talks about the 2018 TCS NYC Marathon and the Mid-term Elections.

James Walsh is Senior Director of Consumer Markets with CenturyLink and will be running in support of the Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of New York in this year’s TCS New York City Marathon. James shares with our listeners a bit about how he has been preparing to participate in this year’s marathon, as well as sharing about his motivation for running – his late mother, who was a devout Catholic woman whom Catholic Charities helped years back when she was raising James and his siblings as a single mother, and who reciprocated the charity that she received by doing the same for others when her own personal circumstances improved.

Honorable Ayirini “Rini” Fonseca-Sabune is the newly appointed Chief Democracy Officer of the City of New York. Chief Democracy Officer Fonseca-Sabune will be sharing with us a bit about her new responsibilities and New York City’s first Chief Democracy Officer in implementing New York City’s “DemocracyNYC” Plan, which aims to amplify the voice of every New Yorker by engaging them across all demographics in our democracy through such means as sponsoring robust Voter’s Registration Drives, expanding civics lesson plans for students in city High Schools, and working with people to engage them with all levels of government – from Community Boards, to City Council, to the State Legislature to the Federal government.
