Senior Meal Delivery and The USNS Comfort

On this week’s episode of Just Love, Monsignor Kevin Sullivan talks about the work of Encore Community Services and the task force on the USNS Comfort.

Jeremy Kaplan is the Executive Director of Encore Community Services, an affiliated agency of Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of New York. Encore has now expanded into a multidimensional agency providing a comprehensive array of services in the Times Square area and beyond. Jeremy shares with us how Encore Community Services assists those homebound seniors that it works with, like securing nutritious meals during the pandemic, as well as helping them deal with the social isolation that accompanies social distancing requirements.

Commander Kerry Hudson, M.D. is the Executive Officer of the Medical Task Force of the Naval Hospital Ship USNS Comfort, which was docked in New York Harbor throughout the month of April assisting the local medical community with the treatment and care of COVID-19 patients. Commander Hudson talks to us about how she and other crew members of the USNS Comfort helped to assist communities like our own city here at home at the height of the pandemic.
